Resin Model
Anime resin model kits(unpainted figurines)???

Anyone ever purchased unpainted Anime resin model kits and completed one? I have done model cars but I have heard that these are much harder. How difficult are they? Is Ebay my best bet for purchasing one? Tools needed?

Resin kits (also called garage kits) require quite a bit of work. Unlike model kits, these resin kits do not contain many parts. Instead, you will be working on a cast of hard resin. There will be many imperfections. With the cheaper kits you may have to alter things to fit.

You will need decent skills with a hobby knife as you will need to cut parts of the kit in order to fit and look good since they are rough. You will also do the painting, which i’m sure you’ve had decent experience with modeling cars. Although, coloring human figures is slightly different as flesh tones are tough (for me anyways).

You will need:

Hobby knife
super glue or two part epoxy
putty (to fill in gaps. There WILL be gaps)
paint and brushes (you probably know what to get)
sand paper

Ebay is a good source, ive had good experiences with the following website:

Best of luck!
